We stayed in Room 1 at Maja Hotel Boutique and couldn't have been more pleased. Initially I had reservations about staying so far away from the centro historico (downtown) of Morelia, but I'm really glad we did. The downtown/centro is just 7-8 minutes away by car or Uber, and you can easily pop down for dinner or a tour and pop back up to the hotel. Maja offers a beautiful, hacienda-like respite from the bustle of busy colonial Morelia, while being close enough to act as a jump off point for any activities in the region. The views are absolutely stunning and you can see the fireworks from the churches and cathedrals of Morelia every evening. The food at the restaurant was delicious, regional, and organic/natural with international touches. The complimentary breakfast was a wonderful added touch and came with fresh fruit, a choice of a main entree, and a house baked pastry (both options were delicious!) When we got there they also gave us a welcome drink, amazing touch. It felt like there was plenty of staff who were always friendly and available, but not overbearing. Room service was prompt and well-served each time, and every staff member was extremely gracious. Our room itself was incredible. We had an entire dressing room and a bathroom that could've fit a small team. All of the decor and books were authentic and well-chosen. And you just could not beat the views. I could not recommend Maja more, you'll love it!

If we could rate this hotel 11/10 we would. This is our second time staying at Maja and each time we are here we can't stop saying to each other that we can't wait to come back. The service, the view, the beds, the property and most of all the FOOD make this a destination property for us. We are impressed that despite this being a boutique hotel, the service standards are on par with 5 star international chains such as the Four Seasons and Waldorf Astoria. The food makes the restaurant a destination in and of itself (it seems many locals do come just for a meal) and, given the quality, you would be hard pressed to find a better value in Mexico. Every single thing we have ordered during our trips (and we have eaten almost every meal here during our stays) has not been good, it's been divine both in taste and presentation. We celebrated a special occasion here and Maja definitely made it special. The views from the property, especially at night, are spectacular. Otto may be the best waitress in Mexico - my boyfriend says she should get a promotion lol. We have stayed at dozens of 4 and 5 star hotels in Mexico over the past few years and Maja is one of our top 5. Have I mentioned that we can't wait to stay here again?!

I loved the different options at breakfast and that it was not tourist themed. The breakfast options were local dishes and all tasted delicious! The presentation of the food was beautiful! It exceed our expectations and was glad that they were able to accommodate our requests. The location was perfect! The views were stunning and beyond what we expected. You are able to see the cathedral at night & during the day. The pool water was warm (which was not expected per other reviews). They brought the pool towels out to us while at the pool. Dinner was delicious! While the portions were a bit small for the price, the flavor was spectacular! The drinks were well prepared and tasty. Only wish there were options for wine glass options as opposed to buying the whole bottle. Erik was an excellent waiter and accommodating to all our needs during dinner/breakfast. All other staff was also wonderful and made us feel at home. Would recommend Maja Boutique 10/10!!
